Have you noticed the skyline changing near 72nd and Q Streets lately? Well, the City of Ralston is on schedule to open the Ralston Sports & Event Center in October of this year!
The arena already has Lancer Hockey, UNO Men's Basketball, and The Omaha Beef (2013) locked in and will host other sporting events as well as concerts and other activities.
The building has been under construction for about 6 months, and the progress is evident. Three areas being constructed include the main arena, office space, and a 2nd ice rink. Mayor Don Groesser says the progress has been great.
With the addition of this 3, 500-seat venue, another focus has been on traffic into the area. Because there is no outlet to the North or West, the Ralston City Council approved a traffic study to look at traffic flow on 72nd Street from L St. to Harrison. It looks like there will be changes made to 72nd and Q in order to accommodate increased traffic during events.
The addition of the arena to Ralston is just “the icing on the cake” to an already active and thriving community!
